The game lacks imposing and memorable places.

The cities in this game are beautiful, but apart from that and few other locations there are just so many trees and rocks.

When i think about Lineage 2 i remember awesome places with impressive buildings, palaces, open dungeons. Tera has incredible architectures, giant buildings that you can enter and fully explore, over several floors. World of Warcraft is full of points of interest that will get stuck in your mind for years and form nice memories.

This game has beautiful landscapes, but they are really not memorable; they lack points of interests.

I hope that they will fix this in the future updates, because personally that is a big part of what ties me to a MMORPG.

It's because this game is Open World PvP. The same with Age of Wushu.

In Open World PvP, you need to spread out, be everywhere, not concentrate into a specific locations. The game needs to be a little on realistic side with little fantasy landscapes.

Different types of games has different things.

This is not architecture 101, you are here to kill stuff not admire building.

Im sure you can have both things and balance them out.

Just like we are alive to eat and sleep, we don't need anything else, right?

I'm not sure comparing living with playing might be the best thing to do.

And life is not made to eat and sleep, it depands on people while game was made to hit stuff.

Copy/paste answer: Those (Tera, Lineage) are high fantasy games, this one is low fantasy. There are those of us here PRECISELY BECAUSE of the art style not being another low-hanging fruit for the lowest common denominator. This game facilitates suspension of disbelief and immersion, something sorely lacking in MMOs for the past 15 years. What else have been made for us in that time span? Age of Conan, that's pretty much it.

TL;DR: You have plenty of those games to go play, this one's for us.

I don't think you have really explored. Yes the landscape is quite same-y but I have had more than a few 'by the twin moons' moments.

That will be a future expansion. Don't worry about that, Koreans are fond of gambling :)

I don't know, it seems an excuse. Imposing buildings arent "high fantasy", you can find them in our world too.

Of course, it's easier to copy paste trees and rocks.

Totally disagree. The places in this game are awesome and meaningful. I played L2 too little, but Tera? couldn't care less about where I was.

Here we got beatiful places, forest that feel like you are really inside (only Witcher3 had managed to do that until now), pretty farm zones, city outskirts, rivers... everything is awesome.

Then again, you are talking about architecture structures, I couldn't care less about cities. I hate big cities in games. I like towns, farms, and wilderness

I would have to disagree on behalf of the game designers. They didn't take the time to make a world that looks like this just to have everyone completely ignore it. This is one of the better looking mmo's I've played.

Don't forget this is an open world sandox, whwhich means a large focus on visuals (costumes, housing, the world in general, etc).

Sorry this game doesn't have floating island cities like 99% of the MMORPG's out there.

The map and architecture is pretty much made to be as realistic as possible. it does a great thing doing it.

There are no beautiful places in the game that make your jaw drop? Have you ever been to:

- Delphe Knights Castle

- Calpheon Valkyrie University

- Altinova

- Calpheon Church

These are only the ones that instantly popped in my head. that doesnt mean these are the only ones out there

To be honest I'm more worried about the state of the game servers, and how many more 'real' issues are being caused by players NOT being able to play at all. These novelty issues are somewhat minor compared to the other things at stake here. Sorry to damper your wonderful 'ideas', you can't appease everyone these days...

^^ Tera, one of your examples. You might see this and think "oh cool", but all I see is desperation. Can you even climb up to those places? What function do they have? Other than to look "cool" (to a certain demographic)

I don't know if you've noticed, but you can enter or interact with almost all buildings in BDO. There's a reason for that, and that reason is that the world is supposed to feel real, not another fake, glossy Hollywood movie poster.

Tera was just an example, but you can see giant buildings and enter them. Inside, you will find 5, 6, 10 floors to explore, with several rooms.

Many MMOs have different degrees of "imposing buildings" to explore, places that get stuck in your mind.

Yes, BDO has some of them, but most of the game world is pretty samey. I am not saying that its ugly or bad, just that there are so many places where there could have been much more in terms of variety, but you will just find rocks, trees, and some small structures.

EDIT: I explored the whole map in Black Desert.

Nah, most of those buildings in teras enviroment you would walk right through them when you're able to get passed or jump over invisible walls. It has no sense of atmosphere like BDO.

I don't think the op has explored enough

Calpheon is very impressive. I've never seen more bustling, alive, more realistinc city not in MMO but in any game. It actually feels like a real city. Actually all the big cities have the same feel. Not to mention all the farms and settlements that feel like they are alive and real. I'm not sure what you are expecting but BDO raised the bar when it comes to such things.

i agree with lofty, and BDO is a tenfold times more immersive than any game i play or have played in many a year, there is plenty of memorable places as well.

not in forms of structures, but sights.

being in treant forest at dawn with a fog, and then a thunderstorm rolled in, it was a really gloomy place to be, and an elsewise fairly idyllic forest became very much hellish.

Skyforge has places like that, but is boring af. Places here are way better than elsewhere IMO. And I like deserts so all of those sneak-peeks at Valencia, yes please. ;)

- Delphe Knights Castle

Worst place ever in the history of everz! :P
