Class choice advices

13 posts in this topic

Hi, for us new to BDO. I figured we could use this thread to get advices from people who actually have played the game - to pick a class. (atleast I like to have a plan upon a newly released game)

So, for me then. If you're familiar to Tera, I mained Slayer and I was darn good at it, is there any class in BDO which is similar to that? If you're not familiar to Tera, it is a class that's semi-dodgeable, have medium armor & two handed sword. A heavy dps that was semi fast paced, or even fast paced if you were good.

Was checking out warrior for the awakening weapon (2h sword) but I dno when I could get it. Checked out Blader that kinda matched my style but got totally blowed off since it wont be released at launch. I'd also love ranger but I'm not a fan as playing as a girl when I'm not one irl. So any advice?

Stuff to think about in general?

Play giant buddy.

Every guild will love a giant instead of 60 wizards!

I didn't play Tera (or long enough to know the classes), but I looked the Slayer class up a bit.

Warrior would still be the best choice for you. It is what you described: semi-dodgable, medium armor and two handed sword. I know that some people will disagree about the dodge aspect, but I play my Warrior around dodging and it works perfectly, while some classes that focus on dodging are not "dodgy" enough for me. Or maybe I am just used to playing Warrior.

Blader uses light armor, so this is not what you want.

Once released, you will be able to get the Warrior Greatsword at Lv56.

Alright sounds good, I mainly thought of blader due to it had similar skills^^

Hm the fast melee classes are like tamer and ninja. I'd say tamer since I mained it till like 54-55 and its pretty fun xD. But yah warrior awaken at 56  would probably be close to slayer in tera but you may or may not have to wait for that and have to sword and board for a bit ;x

So, this question is for people who played GW2, are there any classes in this game that are on par with the elementalist in terms of difficulty or can I just roll whatever?

Witch/Wizard definetely!

I'm playing warrior atm on RU, doesn't feel clunky at all as I expected so I think that will be my to go choice :] it's even incredibly fast paced.

It really depends on your own gameplay, if you like fast paced assassian type gameplay i would say ninja, tanking = giant, doing damage from a far + ranger, and the lots of skill in hand to hand combat = sorcerer, those are my reccomended classes but thats just me

In what sense? And i'd guess witch or wizard would most be like it?

A Witch/Wizard would be on par in terms of skill variety, if that's what you mean by difficulty.

Sorc is very much like an asssasin too with how much they move around, darting in to hit people quickly and then back out, etc.  Also Witch is also ranged damage in addition to Ranger, but more AoE and not as good in 1v1.

If you mean something that requires skill to play then of the starter classes available I'd say Sorc. If you're looking for a similar style then Witch is the one with elemental magic, although it's ranged with a staff, not melee. Sorc is melee.
