Everyone who agrees to this change either doesn't farm at all or farms in their little corners. If I'm farms sausans with my main group and some little randoms group comes in and starts stealing farm, how did you push them out? You kill them. Now when you do that it's pointless so they will just keep coming back and your karma will keep going down. Any hhardcore pvper knows you have to grind in this game to get lvls and gear and if the little noobs who just come into your spot don't go away,  GL in the future. This change is horrible.

Dude, can you please start using your brain?

If you flag and kill the invaders they don't lose EXP anyway!

YOU would lose EXP if you die trying to kill them.

This change makes it so that you are not punished for defending your grindspot. Get it? No?

The ones who are crying about this change are the huge Clans because they are the ones who invade and take over all grind spots.

They want the players who were in the grind spot to lose EXP when they die trying to defend it.

Game will go down the drain.

If you dont see this then man seriously...

Most people bought this game for open world pvp / defending their grind spot with their guild, fighting to make a channel their home.

We were promised a diffrent karma system that never came and now this ?

It means you either have to declare war 500 times a day ( not happening )  or share a spot with 20 randoms....

I say it now this game will lose a big chunk of their playerbase and with it comes Pay to Win to keep up the profits.

Stick your head in the sand and rejoice with this change untill that patch comes where the cashshop will be the same in Korea :)

Go read how PvP works before you post nonsense.

All the whiners in this thread don't even know how PvP works.

He runs a major pvp guild. What's wrong with him asking his fellow members to cast their vote?

awwww well isn't that cuuuuuuuuuuuuute? he was asking not just his clan members, but everyone in that "public" chatroom to vote in a certain way (500+ people with annoucement, a window pops up above your Windows clock and you even hear a sound). Later on he started being a little bit more "neutral".

I'm trying to understand why people are screaming Carebear.

This change makes defending a grind spot no longer punish the defender.

It still benefits the winner, as the winner can continue grinding and gaining Karma, and if someone keeps attacking you and getting killed by you he will eventually run out of Karma and start losing EXP.

I don't really see anything wrong. Am I missing something here?

ya you are missing something, why would you flag up now? If you do you just lose karma while they come back and take mobs, if they take mobs you lose out on that exp, see where that can be a big issue?

A large group of people called the 'hardcores' are going to leave. Which will essentially kill the games core. When you remove the hardcores all you're left with is casuals who really don't care about the game. The casuals come and go, and make barely any investment into the game. Look at WoW for a perfect example of what happens when MMO's cater to the casuals.

what nearly a dozen years of billions of dollars in profits?

Yes. You need to spend loyalty points in order to gain extra karma back. The winner is not benefited because the loser can keep coming back over and over again with no penalty and still interrupt the grinding session.

You're completely mixing up stuff.

The change only affects the ATTACKER that DIES.

When does an attacker die? Usually when trying to defend a grindspot.

An invader usually knows what he's invading and tends to have the upper hand.

What happened before the change, that everyone is so conveniently forgetting, is that big clans would invade entire grinding areas and anyone that tries to defend their grindspots would just lose EXP.

So what actually happened was - big clan comes, you leave without fighting, or stay and lose EXP.

start using my brain? If you weren't in a class F guild you may understand, if you're in a big guild pushing for lvls you want a grind spot, just yesterday there were 2 critical parties at sausans, we were gvging and we come back seeing them there, our guild pushed them out no problem by flagging and killing. They lost exp we didn't. They got pushed out for being weak, sucks to be you. Now with the changes they can just still keep grinding there while we grind since they don't lose shit on pvp death. You already did lose karma if you flagged up before. Now you actually can try to fight difficult enemies.

You're really overlooking the fact that the invaders usually know they have the gear/number advantage, otherwise they wouldn't invade.

Someone that flags up and dies is usually the defender.

Thing is if people just flagged to defend grind spots you wouldn't see these changes. They have to change something to stop the "pvpers" who run around killing anything that moves outside safe zones. How do you expect someone to level at sausans if they can't even level in the 45-50 area by treant because of all the 55ers in there killing anything that blinks? Right now they have the BiS gear being farmed in areas that lower levels need to level up themselves, but they can't because some jerk high level wants his 10th duo mark.

Then you have the people who think its funny to kill afk fishers or horse breeders. Why should anyone be punished for being afk in a game that rewards you for afking and that actually requires afking?

A good chunk of our guild went into the red the other night trying to defend our farm spot. We couldn't even declare war because the other group was a clan. Karma is easily gained back while you farm. If you lose that spot..pick a new one. It's not like there aren't many places for 55's to level.

In Korea they don't lose exp for pvp. I'm not sure why everyone thinks this is so game breaking. Maybe we should play the game how they intended it to be instead of crying until things get so warped that there's no coming back from it.

well that little defender can keep coming back unharmed and take mobs over and over. They can bbring their friends and take mobs of the attackers and just pve grief unlike before they would get wiped.

You're clearly stupid for not UNDERSTANDING that:

penalty only for the person that attacks = no reason to attack = no fight = no pvp

hard?

Again? Seriously? That already happened, man...

If you are grinding and I come over and start killing your mobs, you can flag and try to kill me - I didn't and still WON'T EVER lose EXP from getting killed by a flagged player.

HOWEVER, NOW the flagged player (YOU) won't lose EXP either from getting killed BY the non-flagged player (ME) as long as you are above 0 Karma.

Get it? Or will you STILL come back with the same ignorant examples?

Ok genious. What about a random group consisting of different guilds, unguilded people?

xp loss was never a thing in guild wars, so your point is invalid.

How does that work? It used to be both parties would lose something requiring grinding mobs. Exp loss requires grinding and Karma loss requires grinding.

Now only the winner has to grind mobs because the loser doesn't lose exp anymore. So now the winners in PvP are going to be forced to farm mobs to recover Karma. This isn't a PvP change since the stronger party still has to farm back their karma.

0 xp loss while dying to pvp is not the solution to this problem. For instance, a possible solution would be: if an opponent flags up on you and they are more than a certain number of levels above you, you don't lose xp in pvp by dying to that player or any one in their group or guild.

Dude you NEVER LOST EXP from getting KILLED by a flagged player. What's wrong with you?

This thread is 99% ignorant whiners...

If you are level 45 and a level 55 flags and attacks you, you would have to be able to KILL that level 55 in order for this change to punish you somehow.

So this doesn't change anything regarding the griefing that has always existed.

If you want to fix griefing, something else has to be done.

This change affects FLAGGED ATTACKERS who DIE.

If you see someone invading your grinding spot and YOU FLAG AND KILL HIM, he is NOT flagged. YOU ARE. THIS change doesn't affect that scenario.
